Games you can stream from the cloud
Cloud streaming runs the game on a remote server and sends the picture to your screen, so a laptop, phone or TV can play games it could never run. It needs a subscription, usually a copy of the game, and a good connection.
There are three main routes in the UK. GeForce NOW streams PC games you own on Steam, Epic and other stores, if the publisher has allowed it. Xbox cloud streaming is part of Game Pass, and higher tiers can also stream some games you have bought. PS Plus Premium streams to a PS5 or a PlayStation Portal.
Because most routes need both a subscription and a copy of the game, we mark cloud as playing with a catch, even when it works well. Our Bill sets out the subscription prices.

Setting it up well
- Use a wired connection or strong 5 GHz Wi-Fi; streaming suffers far more from a weak signal than downloading does.
- Check that a game is on the service before subscribing: publishers can opt out.
- Free tiers have queues and session limits; they are good for trying, not for long evenings.
- Competitive shooters feel the extra delay most; single-player games suit streaming best.
